Ring of Fire Table cream and food dye dropped into an aquarium of water. These are pretty much the same set-up as my first cream drop experiments, except one time I had the water level too high and discovered I was able to get a cool coloured base where the liquids went into the water. So with these, the camera is at a much lower angle. These are rotated 180 degrees to get this effect. There is a lot of work and clean-up with these. I only get a few shots before the water is too cloudy and has to be changed and then I have to brush the front and back of the tank to erase air bubbles. I also have to wait for all the little air bubbles to disappear. The first couple of drops into the tank are very blown out in the clear water so I set the aperture to a higher number. Alas, when I forget to put it back down, the pictures are dark like this one. I've been experimenting with different mediums. The red in this has some acrylic paint in it. It seems to be the smoothest of the ones I have. The acrylics also spread out very rapidly on contact with the water, hence the wide base with the flames. Ring the bell I really liked the form of this one, made me think of a bell ringing. I hope everyone enjoys, thanks for looking.
