BALL PISTON PUMP : BALL PISTON
BALL PISTON PUMP : BODY PUMP BEFORE AND AFTER. Ball Piston Pump
Mendick Hill from near Siller Holes A brief explanation from The Pentland Hills: A Walker’s Guide by Susan Falconer (Cicerone): The siller holes appear as lumps and bumps in the ground … Siller holes were silver holes or mines. Evidence suggests that lead was mined or smelted here, but silver was also extracted. Fragments of medieval pottery, leather and textiles have been found, as well as balls of cloth, connected by chains and used as pistons in simple water pumps. Mining may have been undertaken for Melrose Abbey, or other Borders abbeys, for roofing, windows and water pipes. (Artefacts from this location are on display at the National Museum of Scotland, Chalmers Street, Edinburgh.) Chrome Ball 2011 Annual Fire Truck Parade and Muster, Littleton, Colorado. Close-up shot of the Chrome Ball on the 1938 Ahrens Fox Model HT - 935 cubic inch Hercules 6 cylinder L head engine from Sandusky, Ohio. Q: What's the big chrome ball on the front? A: This truck pumps water using a piston pump, which produces pulses of water. This pump action would result in the nozzleman feeling like he was holding a machine gun! To smooth out the water flow, air trapped in the spherical chamber absorbs the pulses and results in a constant flow of water.
